About Us:

ShopWell, a VC-funded “stealth-mode” start-up based in Silicon Valley (Palo Alto, CA), is seeking a Registered Dietitian Consultant to assist in outreach for a revolutionary website around food and nutrition. The Registered Dietitian will collaborate with our development and marketing teams to evangelize and further company efforts on both nutrition tool development and outward facing marketing.

Requirements:

• Team mobilization. Experience coordinating and mobilizing large teams and/or communities in a highly-leveraged approach in an offline or online setting. Examples could include: coordinating a local ADA chapter, but do not need to be nutrition-related. Someone who coordinated hundreds or thousands of volunteers for the aids ride, an animal rights protest held on hundreds of college campuses, or a national battle of the bands contest with hundreds of bands, would all be good examples.
• Socially and internet-savvy. Highly experienced with internet and social tools: blogging, podcasting, Facebook, twitter, social media tools and other social sites and concepts. Lives online. For organic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) initiatives, we'll want to set up social monitoring tools that highlight where nutrition oriented discussions are happening and have this person (and a team mobilized by this person) participate in these discussions
• Nutrition Expertise. Must be able to support the team with relevant nutrition knowledge and appropriate resources to create a comprehensive unbiased nutrition tool. The individual must have experience working with multiple life stages including Pediatrics, Pregnant/lactating women, and Geriatrics and a working knowledge of nutritional needs across the life span and how disease processes interact with specific nutrient needs. Ideally this candidate has inpatient and outpatient experience. Menu creation and prioritization of multiple disease states including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, lipid abnormalities, and hypertension.
• Flexible and Self-Motivated. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starter, and can work seamlessly and comfortably in a startup environment where things move rapidly and objectives continue to evolve.

Desired Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has completed a Masters level program in Nutrition/Dietetics at a US regionally accredited university or college and course work approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).

• Local. Must be able to work in person with our team in our Palo Alto office. Could be part-time or full-time.
